You can choose a research higher degree program to suit your particular circumstances and desired career outcomes. You can also browse QUT's research strengths to help identify a potential research topic available through our faculties, research institutes or collaborative research centres. The following levels of study are available: Graduate Certification in Research CommercialisationThis Graduate Certificate provides research students, researchers and professional managers of research with online training directed at heightening skills and understanding of aspects of research governance, marketing and knowledge transfer. Masters by ResearchA research masters gives you the chance to pursue a significant piece of supervised research. You may choose to use the course to build your skills and confidence before embarking on doctoral studies. This is offered over 1-2 years full time or 2-4 years part time. Professional DoctoratesThese applied doctorates meet the needs of working professionals who want to undertake high-level research and postgraduate coursework that is integrated with their working lives. They offer you outstanding opportunities to solve highly relevant problems with expert QUT supervision. This is offered 3 years full time or 6 years part time. Doctor of PhilosophyThe PhD challenges you to make a significant and original contribution to knowledge in your field. With a PhD you can help develop the theories and models that may shape your profession and/or discipline in the future. This is offered 3 years full time or 6 years part time. Higher DoctorateThe degrees of Doctor of Letters (DLitt), Doctor of Science (DSc), Doctor of Engineering (DEng), Doctor of Business (DBus) and Doctor of Laws (LLD) may be awarded by the University to a candidate who proves outstanding original and distinguished contribution in a branch of learning.
