The Australian Technology Network (ATN) of universities is launching in 2009 a fully online pathway of postgraduate courses to meet the career needs of researchers and professional research administrators. The courses are designed to enhance career and global networking opportunitites . The Graduate Certificate offering is eligible under the Australian Government's Commercialisation Training Scheme(CTS).

Each ATN university is offering online units within all the courses. This allows you, during enrolment, to network with students from across Australia and the world.

The courses are all delivered are ideally suited to busy professionals seeking to develop their skills and knowledge in research commercialisation and management covering areas including research and global sustainability, entrepreneurship and managing research careers.

The aim is to focus on creating high level research and development skilled professionals. This course gives researchers and research managers extensive opportunitites to explore research and development practices through review of current literature and sharing of international best practice.

Pathway Options

Master of R&D Management

Enter the Masters and graduate from the Graduate Certificate (1 semester full time; 2 semesters part time) and Graduate Diploma (2 semester full time; 4 semesters part time) before completing the Masters (3 semesters full time or 6 semesters part time).

Graduate Diploma in R&D Management

Enter the Masters and graduate from the Graduate Diploma (2 semester full time; 4 semesters part time). At this point you may exit or continue to complete the Masters which could be completed after an addition 2 semester full time; 4 semesters part time.

Graduate Certificate in R&D Management

Enter the Graduate Certificate Research & Commercialisation and complete it (1 semester full time; 2 semesters part time).

OR

Enter the Graduate Certificate Research & Commercialisation and complete it (1 semester full time; 2 semesters part time). Later seek advanced standing for this study when entering the Master of R&D Management. With advanced standing you could then complete the Graduate Diploma (1 semester full time; 2 semesters part time) and/or Masters (2 semesters full time or 4 semesters part time).

OR

Enter the Masters and graduate from the Graduate Certificate (1 semester full time; 2 semesters part time) before continuing on to complete the Graduate Diploma and/or Masters.

Enter the Masters and graduate from the Graduate Diploma (2 semester full time; 4 semesters part time). At this point you may exit or continue to complete the Masters which could be completed after an addition 2 semester full time; 4 semesters part time.

Advanced Standing

Students with appropriate prior qualifications and/or professional experience may apply for advanced standing of up to 48CP towards the Master of R&D Management.

Applications are invited from international and domestic students. Please note that as an online course it is not possible for international students to obtain a student visa to study the courses full time on campus.

The DEEWR funded Commercialisation Training Scheme (CTS) offers a limited number of scholarships, covering tuition fees and a living stipend, to assist current Doctoral or Research Masters students to complete the Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialisation.
