Can I study abroad with my scholarship?

Periods of study overseas up to one month only require consultation with your supervisor. However extended periods longer than a month require Research Degrees Committee approval. You can do it one of two ways.

  1. take a leave of absence and suspend your scholarship. You may want to do this if you receive another award to study overseas that pays more than 75% of the base APA or QUT award that you currently hold.
  2. enrol as an External student at QUT and have a Memorandum of Understanding set up at the overseas institution if you will be receiving supervision there. Then you can still receive your scholarship and the time you spend overseas will count as candidature time.
