QUT Postgraduate Research Awards (QUTPRA) are funded by QUT'S Research Budget and are awarded to provide financial support to domestic postgraduate students of exceptional research potential who undertake a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at QUT.

  • Basic Eligibility Requirements (Please consult the QUTPRA Rules for the full listing of eligibility requirements)
    • QUTPRA's are available to Australian citizens and permanent residents (including NZ citizens) undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Masters by Research, or Professional Doctorate.
    • QUTPRA's can only be awarded to applicants who have completed a Bachelor's degree with at least Honours 2A, or are determined as having an equivalent level of academic attainment through previous study, relevant work experience, research publications and other research experience.
    • QUTPRA recipients must be enrolled as a full-time student, unless QUT has approved a part-time QUTPRA as under section 4 of the QUTPRA Rules.
  • Amount
    • The 2008 QUTPRA rate is $20,007pa, tax exempt, which is paid in fortnightly payments of $766.87. These amounts are indexed annually.
    • QUTPRA's also provide a relocation allowance of up to $1,455 for eligible students.
    • QUTPRA's also provide a thesis allowance of up to $840 for eligible Doctoral students and $420 for eligible Masters by Research Students.
  • Duration
    • QUTPRA's are awarded for up to three years for Doctoral students and up to two years for Masters by Research students.
