ATN MORE online modules - provide resources and information to help you improve the research skills that will be required during candidature. is the acronym for Modules On-line for Research Education. The ATN universities have developed online research skills moules for research students. Visit the site to learn more. The available modules are:

The e-Grad School is offering accredited R&D courses including the Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialisation and Masters of Research and Development Management.
ATN LEAP online modules - provide resources and information to improve your employability after you finish your degree. These modules offered by the Australian Technology Universities are called the Learning Employment Aptitudes Program or LEAP and are designed to be done in your own time and at your own pace or you can join a moderated program. The moderated program lasts for approximately 10 weeks and is run periodically throughout the year.

The RAPID site, Research Advancement Program for International Doctoral (and Masters, and Professional Doctorate students), is designed to help international students become familiar with the QUT research culture in the first few months of their arrival. There are four modules offered: A conversation with your supervisor; Scope and Focus of your research; Project management and Networking. Each is of 2 hours duration, normally, and take place once a week over the course of a month, where a new module in the series is offered each week. Online Information Literacy Course (AIRS) |
IFN100 Advanced Information Retrieval Skills - this course is available to postgraduate researchstudents and is a compulsory coursework subject for PhD students. It can be taken as an online course or as a face-to-face course.
Information Technology Services have an online training arm that is available to postgraduate research students. Visit the website to browse the courses that may interest you. An associated link to sources outside of QUT, for those of you interested in qualitative software, is QSR International. QUT is in the process of purchasing a site licence for NVivo 7 software from this company.
Teaching and Learning Support Services (TALSS) provide online courses for students. They may be more suited to undergraduate students; but nevertheless they are available if you feel you could benefit from accessing them.
Student portfolio is an e-portfolio. This is a Web-based repository of information, examples and evidence you can build related to your skills, interests, personal attributes, and achievements. This can be shared with your supervisor, or can be a resource when writing a resume or job application. You can store information here about how you are addressing the graduate capabilities to refer to when responding to the Annual Progress Report. It is accessed through QUT Virtual and can be used to store artifacts and share resources with your supervisor as well as a resume builder and e-portfolio. See the quick reference guide. PORTIA is an acronym for Postgraduate Office Research Training Information Assistant. You can store notes, prepare a research plan or review the details of your candidature at this site. It is a tool to help you, your supervisor and the Research Students Centre to manage your postgraduate research. It is accessed through QUT Virtual . See the quick reference guide.
fIRST is the acronym for Imporving Research Supervision and Training: fIRST. This set of materials has been developed as a resource for supervisors but students may benefit from reading these resources too.
